Cáritas del Perú works from a simple conviction: no one should be left behind—not by geography, poverty, disability, or circumstance. Founded in 1955 as the social action arm of the Catholic Church in Peru, the organization promotes integral human development grounded in justice, solidarity, and respect for human dignity. Through a nationwide network of 48 diocesan offices, Cáritas operates in every region of the country—from remote Andean highlands and Amazon communities to coastal and urban areas—partnering with communities to address the root causes of poverty and exclusion.
With support from the Citi Foundation, Cáritas del Perú is advancing economic inclusion for young people and other groups facing the greatest barriers to opportunity, including women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous communities, and migrants. Building on its deep territorial presence and trusted local relationships, the organization delivers community-based training, productive development initiatives, and pathways to employment and entrepreneurship. By combining grassroots reach with systems-level coordination, Cáritas is helping ensure that economic opportunity extends to even the most geographically and socially excluded communities in Peru.
