Fundación A LA PAR has spent more than 75 years working to advance the rights, dignity, and full participation of people with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1948, the organization takes a firmly rights-based approach rejecting charity models in favor of the belief that people with intellectual disabilities are full citizens with talents, ambitions, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to their communities. Across education, employment, independent living, and social participation, A LA PAR designs tailored supports that help turn structural barriers into real opportunities. Through the Citi Foundation–funded FundAcademy, A LA PAR is addressing one of the most persistent gaps facing young people with intellectual disabilities: access to high-quality, adapted training that truly leads to employment and independent living. FundAcademy offers a free, comprehensive training pathway that brings guidance, skills-building, and career preparation into one integrated model. Starting with individualized assessments and personalized career pathways, the program combines adapted theoretical and practical training, digital tools, and flexible in-person and online formats—expanding access for young people across different contexts while actively working to close the digital divide.
