Youth Employability

Fundación ProEmpleo

Mexico

Project Summary

Fundación ProEmpleo is a Mexican nonprofit dedicated to unlocking the transformative power of decent work and entrepreneurship as pathways to well-being, autonomy, and community resilience. For more than 30 years, the organization has supported people facing conditions of vulnerability to build fuller, more productive lives, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and resources to create sustainable economic opportunities for themselves and their communities. Through hands-on training, personalized mentoring, specialized consulting, and a strong volunteer network, ProEmpleo helps people strengthen the technical, productive, and socio-emotional capacities needed to access decent work, grow businesses, and act as agents of change.

With support from the Citi Foundation, ProEmpleo is launching a comprehensive youth employment initiative for young people ages 15 to 29 across central Mexico, including Hidalgo, Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro, and Tlaxcala. Grounded in a labor market assessment, the project will develop a Virtual Hub offering technical, financial, and entrepreneurship training alongside socio-emotional skill building tailored to real employer demand. The Hub will also connect young people directly with employers, educational institutions, and civil society organizations—expanding access to job vacancies, internships, and service opportunities while helping companies identify qualified talent through practical activities and simulations. Together, these efforts aim to reduce youth unemployment and informality while fostering more inclusive and sustainable economic participation in the region.
