Generation is helping low-income youth in Mexico and Colombia gain access to living wage jobs in the technology sector through trainings on computer programming and information technology and a job placement program.
Generation is a global nonprofit network working to transform education-to-employment systems so people can access life-changing careers that would otherwise remain out of reach. Founded in 2015, Generation operates across 17 countries, preparing adults of all ages for in-demand roles through a structured approach that combines employer engagement, intensive profession-specific training, mentorship, job placement, and long-term alumni support. To date, the organization has supported more than 150,000 graduates and partnered with over 23,000 employers worldwide—helping bridge the gap between untapped talent and real labor market opportunity.
Generation is implementing the YOUTH (Your Opportunity To Unlock Tech Horizons) program, training 625 young people (ages 18–24) from low-income backgrounds in Colombia and Mexico for careers in the tech sector. The program offers pathways into roles such as Full-Stack Java Developer, IT Support Specialist, and AWS Cloud, combining technical training with placement support to ensure strong employment outcomes. With a goal of placing over 80% of graduates into jobs within six months, the program is designed not only to unlock career opportunities for participants, but to generate ripple effects for their families and communities through sustained economic mobility.
