Instituto da Oportunidade Social (IOS) is expanding employability for low-income youth in Brazil through free training in information and communication technology, financial literacy, communication skills and AI, while scaling access via online platforms and strengthening pathways to the job market.
Instituto da Oportunidade Social (IOS) was founded in 1998 to expand access to employment and income generation for young people through free, high-quality training in technology. Serving youth aged 15 to 29 from low-income backgrounds—including public school students and people with disabilities—IOS works to ensure that talent is not limited by access to education or opportunity, but supported to thrive in the labor market.
With support from the Citi Foundation, IOS is scaling its employability model to reach more young people and strengthen pathways into work across Brazil. The two-year project will deliver 480 ICT training opportunities in São Paulo, develop new content in artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, financial education, and socio-emotional skills, and expand access nationwide through an online learning platform. At the same time, IOS is strengthening its employability cycle through a specialized digital tool that improves job matching and placement outcomes—helping more young people access quality training, secure meaningful work, and build long-term economic mobility.
